this website makes me feel like i’ve got on a brand new sassy pair of shoes. hooray for mike benson!
delicate cutters have been undergoing some serious study time. that is, brian is deep into graduate school in composition and also teaching at the university. kevin quit his lucrative day job to go to graduate school, as well. he’s becoming a mad scientist! chance, well, chance is knee deep in fake blood shooting another movie. we can’t wait to see what happens when he takes his gore to outer space.
as you may know, our beloved guitarist pete, also of ferocious bubbles and trees with bells, has departed from our fivesome to work solely on his projects. we are happy and excited for pete’s successes and triumphs, though sad to see him go. if you haven’t already, check out his bands here on site, and be sure to buy his albums. pete’s talent in the recording process is not to be missed.
in the meantime, i have been working with my other band, teen getaway, to finish up a long-time-coming ep, to be released within the next couple of months. in the non-rock arena, i have been working on ancient sacred chant with friend jennifer roth-burnett. also, i have decided to join forces with kevin as a support musician for his irish band, red hill. more on that, later!
we will be looking to get back into the studio within the next couple of months, as we have many new songs to share, and once the dust has settled from this semester’s crunch, we will be ready to be backin front of an audience and hopefully take some road trips.
I did the album art for the Delicate Cutters’ last album We are Not Lovers. Janet had already done some work on an album cover that incorperated Morning Glories. I used that as a spring board into the project. Not all of my initial designs used flowers but in the end, they just felt right.
I liked the album a lot and I wanted to create something that would compliment the songs like a good backdrop for one of their shows. Wouldn’t that be fun?
I felt like at it’s core it was about memories and getting older and wiser. The songs felt like reflections on the past. I am an consumate, often unwilling, collector of things from my past. Old books, cards, photos - they always hold a story. That’s what I finally settled on. The idea of life as your favorite storybook - one you might read as a kid before you go to bed. The following is some images that didn’t make the cut. Check it out.
The following is 10 Round Buyer. A really cool song off of the album.
This is the version that went to press. It’s torn, like a well loved kids book.
* The great thing about discovering a new band or artist without benefit (or detriment, depending on your personal views) of pre-packaged, scripted, and visually finite videos is the liberty to create your own version of that band’s or artist’s musical and pictorial partnership. In the case of Safe Home, chances are your mental movie will include bushels of butterflies, marshmallow-fluffy skyscapes, rolling, lush clover fields…maybe even a castle turret complete with a Rapunzil-like occupant, wistfully pining for her equally folliclely-endowed beau, or for the lead in a shampoo commercial. All of which is artistically shot through a soft-focus, wrinkle and blemish- erasing lens filter.
well ok- it’s been a while since an update…my firend adriane actually reads the deep thoughts so, this one’s for you ade…
..so i’ll reveal the secret that i, the writer of these deep thoughts , is in fact the owner, operator, controller, sole debtor, and currently only active member of now here records…paul fugazzotto II, aka ponieheart. - and you thought this was the intern’s job…you fools!!!
- i playted a show at siren records in doylestown, pa…my new home town…i moved here just before the new year. - the show was pretty good considering i had pretty bad jitters as i want to make a good impression on my new neighbors……the highlight of the show for me was watching ADERBAT, one of the best bands i’ve seen in a long time…they were great….the music was great, the songs were great…basically an all around great band and you should click their name and go where it takes you.
- finally got the records off the floor and organized……been listineng to john lennon, - plastic ono band, Love- forever changes, and hall and oates - abandoned lunceonette……oh, you gotta love the blue eyed soul of hall and oates…if you don’t, then you are not a nerd, therefore not anywhere near cool enough to keep reading…..which reminds me….i like Rush too, and if you don’t like that than go fuck yourself with a roto rooter….i mean, go listen to something really cool like……lilly allen….same thing….
….steve from safe home had me check out this band from holland called Roosbeef….it’s like headwig and the angry melanie safka…..
which reminds me….i think i must have every melanie record…if there are any more, i don’t want to know about it….what started as curiosity turned to love, turned to obsession and has now turned to illness….do not listen to melanie unless you are prepared to fall deeply in love with her work….my suggestion woulb be “garden in the city”….
